Since the dawn of agriculture 10,000 years ago agricultural practices have been destructive of the local environment and ultimately unsustainable. Modern agricultural practices; specifically agribusiness, reliance on artifical herbicides, pesticides and fertilisers and genetically modified organisms are accelerating the destruction. There are solutions but the consumer, producers and big business need to accept that the higher cost of sustainable food production.
