Climate change, the biggest threat to our modern lifestyle, the ecosystems and biosphere we rely on, is caused by excessive amounts of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The easiest way to burn your way through a year's allocation of carbon credits is to take a flight somewhere. Second best is to buy goods (especially out of season fresh food) that has been flown from the country of origin to the country of production.

Understanding the issue
The causes
Evidence
How bad is flying compared, to boat, train and car transport. Need to calculate it based on CO2 output per kg moved per km travelled.
Cost-benefit analysis
What are the solutions
Keeping the flight miles down
Mainly behavioural. The whole spectrum from not flying at all - ever -to reducing the number of flights you take and the number of miles you fly.
Repairing the damage
A number of organisations offer opportunities to compensate for CO2 produced whilst flying. Need more info on some of these.
