The poor person begging in the street as you walk passed is suffering from first world poverty. They are unfortunate but have been educated, have clothes, access to safe drinking water, some food, access to medical assistance and shelter. Global poverty is characterised by extreme deprivation. Almost half of the World's population, nearly three billion people, survive on less than two US dollars a day. They have insufficient, food, clothes, shelter and limited access to safe drinking water, medical assistance and education.

The majority of Global poverty is caused by first world political policies and economics.
