Public transport means people taking the same journey sharing, bicycles, buses, trams, cars or trains. The provision of adequate public transport coupled with effective planning reduces greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution, noise pollution, traffic congestion and the costs of travel. Effective public transport also makes the streets safer for pedestrians and cyclists and raises mobility and access to jobs, services and leisure facilities of all groups of society.
