The Red List provides taxonmic, conservation status and distrubtion information on all threatened species. The primary purpose of the list is to highlight endangered species and taxa that are at risk of extinction. The Red List is recognized as the most comprehensive, apolitical approach for evaluating the conservation status of plant and animal species. The Red List is published annnually by the IUCN's subsiduary the SSC.
